HDD Drill Rods

Steel Pipe and Raw steel pipes are made into HDD Drill Rods after multiple processing steps. Firstly, through the steel pipe thickening process, the outer surface of the smooth pipe is bent inward, and the steel pipe wall is thickened. Secondly, perform thread machining and coat with copper that can increase strength. Then, non-destructive quality control inspection is carried out, followed by welding of steel pipe body joints. Afterwards, the pipe will undergo welding heat treatment and final welding treatment to eliminate residual welding stress. Before painting and packaging the finished drill pipe, other tests should be conducted on the steel pipe, including hardness testing, pressure testing, and non-destructive testing.

The HDD Drill Rods is composed of upper and lower joints and pipe body parts. The pipe body is composed of two types of structures: square or hexagonal. The upper joint is a left-handed female thread (reverse buckle). During rotation, the left-handed female thread prevents reverse buckle; The lower joint is a right-handed male thread, connected to the drill pipe.

Azotizing treatment can allow the nitride layer to penetrate below the metal surface, greatly improving the surface hardness of the thread and slowing down metal wear.
