Mud Pump refers to a mechanical device that delivers flushing fluids such as mud or water into a borehole during the drilling process. Mud Pump is an important component of drilling equipment. In commonly used positive circulation drilling, it is to directly deliver the surface flushing medium – water, mud or polymer flushing fluid – to the bottom of the drill bit through a high-pressure hose, faucet and drill string center hole under a certain pressure, in order to cool the drill bit, remove the cut rock debris and transport it to the surface.
ZH HDD Tooling has two types: Piston Mud Pump and Plunger Mud Pump for Horizontal directional drilling(HDD). ZH HDD Tooling Piston Mud Pump and Plunger Mud Pump is driven by an Engine to rotate the crankshaft of the HDD Mud Pump. The crankshaft then drives the piston or plunger through the crosshead to perform reciprocating motion in the HDD Mud Pump cylinder. With the alternating action of the suction and discharge valves, HDD Mud Pump can compressing and circulating cleaning fluid.
Difference of ZH HDD Tooling Piston Mud Pump and Plunger Mud Pump for HDD
- Working principle: Both Piston Mud Pump for HDD and Plunger Mud Pump for HDD generate hydraulic energy through reciprocating motion of the plunger or piston. They use pressure difference to drive the reciprocating motion of the plunger or piston, sucking liquid into the pump chamber and discharging it through the outlet.
- Structure: There are some differences in structure between Piston Mud Pump for HDD and Plunger Mud Pump for HDD. The plunger of the plunger pump is directly connected to the crankshaft or cam mechanism, and is driven to reciprocate by mechanical force. The piston of the piston pump is connected to the crankshaft through a connecting rod, and the reciprocating motion of the piston is generated by the rotation of the crankshaft.
- Sealing method: Piston Mud Pump for HDD usually use a seal between the plunger and the pump chamber, which prevents leakage through friction sealing between the plunger and the pump chamber wall. Piston Mud Pump for HDD usually use a seal between the piston and the pump chamber, which prevents leakage by sealing between the piston ring and the pump chamber wall.
- Application areas: Piston Mud Pump for HDD and Plunger Mud Pump for HDD have a wide range of applications in both industrial and mechanical fields. Piston pumps are typically used for high-pressure, high flow conditions.
